Mark Chamberlin

Mark Chamberlin (June 2, 1955 – March 22, 2011) was an American stage and film actor born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in Lake Oswego. He attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, graduating in 1977.

Chamberlin launched his screen career with the horror film Christmas Evil in 1980, followed by a starring role in John Irvin's Ghost Story in 1981. He also appeared in the television film Kent State and the thriller Edge of Honor in 1991. His final film credit came with John Carpenter's The Ward, released in 2011.

In 1982, Chamberlin appeared on Broadway in 84 Charing Cross Road alongside Ellen Burstyn. The production ran for 96 performances. The role represented one of his most prominent stage credits and reflected a career that increasingly centered on theatrical work. He spent much of his later professional life performing onstage and teaching acting, and served on the board of the University of Washington's School of Drama.

On March 20, 2011, Chamberlin fell from his bicycle and sustained injuries that required hospitalization at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He died two days later, on March 22, 2011, from a pulmonary embolism. He had been scheduled for release from the hospital at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children.
