Marie Fedor

Marie Fedor was a stage actress born in Boston, Massachusetts who performed in theater during the early twentieth century. Before entering the theater, she had established herself as a debutante and was a recognized figure in Boston society.

Fedor spent a significant portion of her early life in Paris, France, where she lived with her mother and cultivated interests in music and the arts. Upon returning to Boston, she enrolled at Radcliffe College, though a serious illness forced her to discontinue her studies there.

Her professional stage debut came in December 1904 with the stock company of Minnie Maddern Fiske, in a production of Leah Kleschna. The premiere took place at the Manhattan Theatre on Broadway and 33rd Street. In the production, Fedor played Frieda, a peasant girl set in an Austrian village.

Reviewer Robert Butler wrote of her performance that she displayed unusual understanding of stage technique and that her portrayal of Frieda appeared to an advantage that did not fail to win favorable comment. Butler further noted that Fedor fitted decidedly well into the picture of the fifth act and that she would bear a deal of watching in the future.
