Marcy Harriell is an American actress, singer, and writer whose Broadway career spans from 1995 to 2008. She has been married to actor, writer, and entrepreneur Robert Harriell since 1995.
Harriell's stage career began with the 1996 national tour of West Side Story, in which she starred as Maria. Her Broadway debut followed on April 4, 1997, when she joined the cast of Rent after only four days of rehearsal, taking on the role of Mimi opposite Adam Pascal in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. She later appeared in Lennon, a Broadway musical built around the music of former Beatle John Lennon, written and directed by Don Scardino. On November 11, 2008, Harriell joined the Tony Award-winning production of In the Heights, playing Vanessa opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda.
On television, Harriell has held series regular roles on NBC's Ed, Showtime's Nurse Jackie, and the CBS courtroom dramedy Queens Supreme. Her guest appearances span a range of programs including NCIS, Law and Order, Elementary, Royal Pains, Beauty and the Beast, Gone, and Search Party.
In film, Harriell appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, part of the double feature Grindhouse. Tarantino rewrote the role specifically for her following her 2006 audition and renamed the character Marcy. She plays Molly's mother in the 2019 film Men in Black: International. In December 2013, Lin-Manuel Miranda recruited Harriell to record song demos for the Disney animated film Moana; her recordings of the songs More and More (Reprise) were included on the soundtrack.
In 2022, choreographer Mark Morris selected Harriell as star vocalist for his evening-length piece The Look of Love, based on songs by Burt Bacharach, Hal David, and Dionne Warwick. The production premiered on the East Coast at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Harriell is also a regular performer with Loser's Lounge, a tribute project created by Joe McGinty, and has performed with the group at venues including the Public Theater, City Winery, Lincoln Center, and the Montclair Film Festival.
Beyond performing, Harriell is active in the online sewing community through her blog oonaballoona, where she documents her fashion designs and handmade wardrobe. She hosts Re:Fashion, a sewing and fashion series on TN Marketing's Craftsy, and has written for the magazines Threads and Mollie Makes. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on the Canadian sewing podcast Love To Sew.
