About
Marceline Hugot is an American stage and screen actress born on February 10, 1960, in Hartford, Connecticut, who has appeared on Broadway from 2007 to 2024. She holds dual citizenship in the United States and France. Her father, François Hugot, was a professor of French studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and Hugot began her acting career on College Hill in Providence as a college freshman.
While pursuing a master's degree in theatre in San Diego, Hugot secured film roles including Working Girl and Woody Allen's Alice. Her television work during that period included appearances on Ellen, ER, Law & Order, and Spin City. She later became widely recognized for her recurring role as Kathy Geiss on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. Additional television credits include Sex and the City, Ed, Onion News Network, The Leftovers, Godless, Gretel on Fox's Gotham, and Shirley Hartland on AMC's Better Call Saul.
Her film work spans several decades and genres. Credits include To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, United 93, and Julie & Julia. In the 2008 PBS film Jump at the Sun, directed by Sam Pollard, she portrayed 1940s radio personality Mary Margaret McBride opposite Kim Brockington, who played Zora Neale Hurston. In 2020, Hugot appeared in the black comedy thriller Blow the Man Down alongside Annette O'Toole, June Squibb, and Margo Martindale.
On stage, Hugot performed in Eugene O'Neill's A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Actors Theatre of Louisville Victor Jory Theatre in Louisville, Kentucky, and in Jackie Sibblies Drury's Marys Seacole at Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3. Her Broadway credits include Craig Lucas's Prelude to a Kiss, in which she played Aunt Dorothy at the American Airlines Theatre in 2007, and Uncle Vanya, with her Broadway career spanning through 2024.
