About
Marc Mann is an American musician whose work spans keyboards, guitar, programming, arranging, and conducting. He holds a Master's Degree in Music from UCLA and has accumulated credits as a performer, arranger, or producer on 54 albums.
Mann is closely associated with composer Danny Elfman, with whom he has collaborated on numerous film projects including Mars Attacks!, Sleepy Hollow, and the Men in Black series. His contributions to these films typically involve MIDI supervision and orchestrations. He has maintained a parallel collaboration with musician Jeff Lynne, and his work with Oingo Boingo, another Elfman project, included performing keyboards for the band from 1994 to 1995. During that period he appeared on the band's final live album and video release, Live from the Universal Amphitheatre.
In January 1994, Lynne brought Mann in to assist with the restoration of cassette recordings by John Lennon, which the surviving Beatles — Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr — were working with to complete new Beatles recordings. Mann also contributed string arrangements to several tracks on Harrison's posthumous 2002 album Brainwashed. On November 29, 2002, he performed at the Concert for George, playing Harrison's parts alongside Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and others. In 2004, Mann played lead guitar alongside Prince on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" during Harrison's posthumous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mann had also been scheduled to perform with the Electric Light Orchestra on their Zoom tour, though that tour was ultimately cancelled.
On Broadway, Mann appeared in Movin' Out, with his involvement spanning 2002 to 2004. Beyond that production, he has continued working with both Lynne and Elfman on film projects including Frankenweenie and Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and has provided support for bands including Thenewno2.
