Mallory Bechtel

Mallory Bechtel is an American musical theatre actress born in The Woodlands, Texas, where she grew up and attended The John Cooper School. She began acting at age eight, making her first professional stage appearance in 2008 as Susan Waverly in Theatre Under the Stars' production of White Christmas. Based in New York, Bechtel is best known for her work in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen.

Bechtel's connection to Dear Evan Hansen began in 2015, when she auditioned for the role of Zoe Murphy at age fifteen but was not cast. In August 2017, she was brought on as a vacation standby for original cast member Laura Dreyfuss, though she did not perform in the role during that period. In July 2018, Bechtel assumed the role of Zoe Murphy full-time at the Music Box Theatre, remaining with the production for one year until July 2019, when Gabrielle Carrubba succeeded her in the part. Her performance earned her a Broadway.com Audience Award nomination in 2019. Prior to joining the Broadway cast, Bechtel had planned to enroll at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts following her high school graduation, but deferred those plans when she was cast in the show.

Beyond the stage, Bechtel has accumulated credits in television and film. In 2018, she appeared on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and was cast in director Ari Aster's supernatural horror film Hereditary. In 2020, she appeared on CBS's FBI: Most Wanted. That same year, she was scheduled to play Kim MacAfee in a Kennedy Center production of Bye Bye Birdie, but the production was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Bechtel took on a dual role, playing twins Karen and Kelly Beasley in the Max series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Her YouTube cover of "Requiem" from Dear Evan Hansen accumulated over seven million views and contributed to a combined social media following of more than sixty thousand across YouTube and Instagram.
