About
Maia Reficco is an American and Argentine actress and singer, born on July 14, 2000, in Boston, Massachusetts. When she was four years old, her family relocated to Buenos Aires, Argentina. From an early age, Reficco demonstrated a strong interest in music, learning to play guitar, piano, saxophone, and ukulele. She also practiced acrobatics for eleven years. Her mother, Katie Viqueira, is a singer, singing teacher, and director of her own Center for Vocal Art, while her father, Ezequiel Reficco, is a professor at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá. Her younger brother, Joaquín Reficco Viqueira, is also a singer.
At fifteen, Reficco traveled to Los Angeles, where she lived with music producer Claudia Brant and studied singing with vocal coach Eric Vetro, whose clients have included Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Shawn Mendes. She also completed a five-week program at Berklee College of Music in Boston, earning a scholarship for her performance in the program.
Reficco's professional career began when Brant submitted covers Reficco had posted to Instagram to the production team behind the Nickelodeon Latin America series Kally's Mashup. Following an audition in which she sang Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman," Reficco was cast in the lead role of Kally Ponce. She signed with Deep Well Records and traveled to Miami to record music for the series. On October 19, 2017, she made her first appearance at the Kids' Choice Awards Argentina, performing the series' theme song "Key of Life." In August 2018, she performed "Worlds Collide" and "Unísono" with the Kally's Mashup cast at the Kids' Choice Awards Mexico, and later reprised those performances at the KCA Argentina 2018 and the Meus Prêmios Nick 2018, where she also received a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award. During this period, Reficco confirmed in an interview with Billboard Argentina that she was developing solo record material in the pop and R&B genre, fully in English, in conjunction with a major label.
In 2022, Reficco appeared in the Netflix film Do Revenge and took on the starring role of Noa Olivar in the HBO Max horror thriller series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, the fourth installment in the Pretty Little Liars franchise. In 2024, she made her Broadway debut in Hadestown, playing Eurydice opposite Jordan Fisher.
