Mabel Barrison

Mabel Barrison (April 21, 1882 – November 1, 1912) was a Canadian-born American stage actress and singer who worked primarily in the first decade of the twentieth century. Born Eva Farrance, she joined a musical chorus while still in her teens and went on to build a Broadway career spanning from 1900 to 1910.

Barrison performed in vaudeville as well as on Broadway, where she appeared alongside Weber and Fields. Stage director Julian Mitchell took notice of her work and cast her in the 1903 production of Babes in Toyland, a credit she reprised in a 1905 revival of the same show. Her role in The Blue Mouse, a play written by Clyde Fitch, came about through Fitch's personal selection of Barrison for the part.

Her Broadway credits included Florodora in 1900, Twirly Whirly in 1902, Humming Birds and Onions in 1902, The Stickiness of Gelatine in 1902, and The Big Little Princess in 1903. She continued performing through the latter part of the decade, appearing in The Land of Nod and The Song Birds in 1907, the musical The Flower of the Ranch in 1908, The Blue Mouse in 1908, and Lulu's Husbands in 1910.

Barrison experienced significant health difficulties during the final two years of her life. She died on November 1, 1912, in Toronto at the age of 30.
