About
Luther Creek is an American actor and singer born on January 28, 1972, in Stamford, Connecticut. The son of J. Fred Creek, a realtor originally from New Mexico, and Patricia Creek, originally of Indianapolis, Creek grew up across the Midwest and Southwest as his family relocated frequently. He began performing in community theatre during his high school years in Indiana and also played in rock bands during that period.
Creek's professional career began in the early 1990s, when he understudied the title role in the European premiere of Tommy. He went on to play Claude in the James Rado-directed 25th anniversary U.S. national tour of Hair in 1993, which led to a Broadway run in 1994. Creek returned to the role of Claude in the 2001 City Center Encores! concert production of Hair, which also featured Tom Plotkin and Idina Menzel.
His connection to Rent spanned several years and multiple roles. Creek joined the National Tour of Rent in 1996 as Mark Cohen before transitioning to the role of Roger, which he continued playing when he joined the Broadway production in 1998. He subsequently appeared as Lyle in the 1999 Broadway production of Footloose and took on the role of Bobby Strong in the Broadway run of Urinetown in 2003. Creek also appeared in the 2000 Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Off Broadway, Creek played Peter in A Man of No Importance in 2002. His work extended internationally as well, with Creek appearing as Woof in the 2010 West End revival of Hair. That same year, he joined the Broadway cast of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark in the role of Kenny "Kong" McFarlane. The production began previews on November 28, 2010, opened on June 14, 2011, and concluded its Broadway run on January 4, 2014.
Beyond the stage, Creek has appeared in films and on television, including guest roles across multiple installments of the Law & Order franchise, and has performed voice work.
