About
Lucy Kérimée Gutteridge, born on 28 November 1956 in London, England, is a retired English actress whose career spanned stage and screen across the late twentieth century. She made her Broadway appearance in 1981, performing in The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.
On television, Gutteridge took on the role of Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt in the 1982 miniseries Little Gloria... Happy at Last, a performance that earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. Two years later, she appeared in the 1984 comedy film Top Secret!, playing the character Hillary Flammond.
Gutteridge was the eldest daughter of Major Bernard Hugh Gutteridge, a poet and writer who held the Legion of Merit, and Nabila Farah Kérimée Halim, whose father was H.H. Prince Muhammad Said Bey Halim of Egypt. Through her mother's lineage, Gutteridge is a great-great-great-granddaughter of Muhammad Ali of Egypt, the founder of modern Egypt, making her a distant cousin of Egypt's last king, Fuad II. She has two younger sisters, Anne-Marie Morwenna Gutteridge, born in 1958, and Cosima Farah Gutteridge, born in 1962.
In 1978, Gutteridge married Andrew Hawkins, a son of the actor Jack Hawkins, in London. The couple had a daughter, Alice, born in 1979.
