About
Lucy Chet DeVito is an American actress born on March 11, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. The daughter of actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, she grew up with two younger siblings, a sister named Grace Fan DeVito and a brother named Jacob Daniel DeVito. Her father is Catholic and her mother is Jewish. DeVito graduated from Brown University in 2007 with a degree in theater.
Following her graduation, DeVito joined the New York developmental theater company Ensemble Studio Theater, where she has remained a member since 2007. That same year, she took on the title role in the company's production of Lucy, playing a non-speaking autistic character. Her stage work continued with a 2008 production of Anne Frank at the Intiman Theatre in Seattle, Washington, where she played Anne Frank, and a 2009 appearance as La Piccola in The Miracle at Naples at the Huntington Theatre. Also in 2009, she appeared off-Broadway alongside her mother in Love, Loss, and What I Wore, adapted by Nora and Delia Ephron, at the Westside Theatre. In 2016, she played Annelle Dupuy-Desoto in a production of Steel Magnolias at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania, directed by Marsha Mason and featuring Patricia Richardson, Elaine Hendrix, Jessica Walter, and Susan Sullivan. That production became the highest-grossing show in the history of the Bucks County Playhouse on June 9, 2016. The following year, DeVito portrayed Elanor in the romantic comedy Hot Mess. Her Broadway debut came in 2023 with I Need That.
DeVito's screen credits include a recurring role on the ABC Family series Melissa & Joey from 2010 to 2012 and a starring role in the Hulu sitcom Deadbeat, which ran from 2014 to 2015. Her first major film role came in the 2009 movie Leaves of Grass. In 2016, she appeared in The Comedian, playing the daughter of her father Danny DeVito's character. She also served as a main voice actor and executive producer on the FXX animated comedy Little Demon in 2022.
