About
Lorraine Miller (January 5, 1922 – February 6, 1978) was an American actress born in Flint, Michigan. The daughter of Charles W. Miller, an electrical engineer, she attended Michigan State College before pursuing a career in acting.
Miller worked for producer Samuel Goldwyn early in her career, an association that led to a legal dispute in 1944. A photograph taken during her time with Goldwyn, depicting her in black lingerie on a white fur rug and captioned "Samuel Goldwyn's Most Cuddlesome Blonde," was printed on postcards and distributed widely by Photo Specialty Company. Miller filed a $50,000 lawsuit against Photo Specialty Company, Goldwyn, and others, alleging that the image had been used without her consent and that its circulation had damaged her career and earning power while causing her embarrassment. In 1945, she performed as a dancer at Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe. That same year, she appeared in the film The White Gorilla, for which she became particularly recognized.
Miller's Broadway career spanned 1946 to 1948. She appeared in Happy Birthday in 1946 and subsequently took a role in Magdalena in 1948. On December 10, 1949, she married American film actor and director Edward Buzzell in Palm Springs, California.
