Lois Meredith

Lois Meredith, also styled Loïs Mérédith, was an American actress born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 26, 1897, who worked in both silent film and theatre. She died on January 15, 1967.

Meredith's Broadway career spanned from 1911 to 1926, during which she appeared in four productions. Her stage credits included the musical The Dancing Duchess, the plays The Czarina and Number 7, and Help Wanted.

Her screen career encompassed 22 films, 21 of which were produced between 1914 and 1922. Among her film roles were Margaret Holt in The Conspiracy (1914), Mathilde in The Seats of the Mighty (1914), and Peggy Sloane in The Greater Will (1915). She portrayed Wanda Kelly in The Woman (1915) and Jacqueline Bourbon in The Precious Parcel (1916). In 1918 she appeared in three films: Her Mistake, On the Quiet, and Over the Top, playing Helen Lloyd in the latter. Her most prominent later silent role was Katrina Van Tassel in The Headless Horseman (1922). Two French productions, Autour du Mystère and Le Secret de Rosette Lambert, in which she played the title character Rosette Lambert, were also among her 1920 credits, as was L'Inconnue (1921), released under her alternative name styling. After a gap of fifteen years, Meredith returned to film in an uncredited minor role as Countess Potocka in Conquest (1937).
