Lois Ewell (January 28, 1885 – July 3, 1946) was an American soprano opera singer and Broadway theatre performer. Born in Memphis, Tennessee to James Levi Ewell, she went on to build a career that spanned both the Broadway stage and operatic performance.
Ewell's Broadway work took place between 1906 and 1907, during which she appeared in several productions. Her credits from that period include the musical The Merry Widow Burlesque, the burlesques The Magic Knight and Dream City, and the play Forty-five Minutes from Broadway. In 1908, she starred in Joe Weber's Burlesque of The Merry Widow at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City.
Her personal life during these years included a marriage to Henry Ramond Tredwell of Port Washington, New York, which took place in Brooklyn in 1905. The marriage ended in a divorce granted in Chicago in 1909.
Ewell's operatic career extended into the following decade. In 1913, she appeared in the Century Opera Company's production of Aida in Manhattan, and in 1914 she starred in Tosca with the same company.
Ewell died in New York City in 1946 under the name Lois Henderson.
