Lloyd Battista

Lloyd McAteer Battista, born May 14, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, is a retired American actor and screenwriter whose career spanned stage, screen, television, and radio. He trained at the Carnegie Institute of Technology before establishing himself as a working performer across multiple entertainment mediums.

Battista's Broadway career ran from 1966 to 1983 and included appearances in The Miser, Those That Play the Clowns, King of Schnorrers, The Guys in the Truck, and The Homecoming. Alongside his Broadway work, he performed in off-Broadway productions, among them Sexual Perversity in Chicago.

His film credits include Chisum in 1970, Love and Death in 1975, and In Hell in 2003. Battista also appeared in several Spaghetti Westerns, including productions featuring actor Tony Anthony, for some of which Battista contributed screenplays. He wrote the screenplay for Anthony's Treasure of the Four Crowns, though he did not appear in that film.

On television, Battista's work included the CBS soap opera Love of Life in the 1950s and the 1994 miniseries James A. Michener's Texas. His radio presence was established through the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, on which he was heard between 1974 and 1982.

Beyond performing and screenwriting, Battista authored The Nose Knows, a guide to restaurants in the Los Angeles area.
