About

Lisa Mordente is an American actress, singer, and dancer born on July 30, 1958, in New Hyde Park, New York, on Long Island. She is the daughter of choreographer and television director Tony Mordente and actress and dancer Chita Rivera. Her birth notably delayed her mother's opening in the West End production of West Side Story.

Mordente's Broadway career spanned from 1969 to 2006 and included several notable productions. She made her Broadway debut in the 1978 musical Platinum, appearing opposite Alexis Smith. Her role in the 1981 production Marlowe earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, as well as a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical. Additional Broadway credits include Zorba and Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life.

Beyond performing, Mordente contributed to Broadway as assistant to the choreographer on the 1993 production of The Who's Tommy, where she met performer Donnie Kehr, whom she later married and subsequently divorced.

Mordente's television work includes a regular role on the 1976 summer series Viva Valdez, along with guest appearances on Starsky and Hutch, Welcome Back, Kotter, Chico and the Man, The Cosby Show, C.P.O. Sharkey, and The A-Team. She also worked as a choreographer in film, with credits on The End and Sister Act. In 1996, Mordente appeared on Adam Sandler's comedy album What the Hell Happened to Me?, performing a duet with Sandler titled "Crazy Love."
