Libi Staiger, born Elizabeth Anne Staiger on January 10, 1928, in Harrisburg, Illinois, was an American actress whose work was concentrated primarily on the stage. She died on September 25, 2019, in Austin, Texas.
Staiger's Broadway career spanned from 1953 to 1963. Among her credits was a role in By the Beautiful Sea, as well as a part in Destry Rides Again, which ran at the Imperial Theatre in New York from April 23, 1959, to June 18, 1960, where she played Chloe and served as standby for the role of Frenchie. She also appeared as Cleo in The Most Happy Fella, which opened at the London Coliseum on April 21, 1960.
Her first and only starring role came in Sophie, a musical-comedy based on the life of entertainer Sophie Tucker. The production played the Winter Garden Theatre in New York for a brief run from April 15 to April 20, 1963. The show's failure brought her Broadway career to a close.
Beyond the stage, Staiger appeared in the 1982 film Hanky Panky, in which she played Buck's Wife. She also had a television credit, appearing in the Kate & Allie episode Dressed to Kill, which aired on December 23, 1985.
