About
Leslie Perrins (7 October 1901 – 13 December 1962) was an English actor known for frequently portraying villains across stage and screen. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began his stage career in 1922, going on to accumulate credits in well over 60 films throughout his professional life.
Perrins brought his stage work to New York in 1930, appearing on Broadway in the play Insult. His career spanned decades and encompassed both theatrical and film work in substantial volume.
Outside of acting, Perrins maintained a deep involvement with the world of dog breeding and showing, particularly in relation to Welsh Corgis. He served as president of the Welsh Corgi League from 1956 until his death in 1962, and acted as a judge at Crufts in 1957. In 1958 he published a book titled Keeping a Corgi. He and his wife Violet shared this passion, and the Welsh Corgi League established an annual award in his honor, known as the Leslie Perrins Memorial Trophy.
