About
Leslie Louise Bibb was born on November 17, 1973, in Bismarck, North Dakota, and was raised in Lovingston, Virginia. Her father died three years after her birth, after which she relocated to Richmond, Virginia, with her mother and three older sisters. She attended Saint Gertrude High School, an all-girls Catholic private school in Richmond. At sixteen, Bibb won a nationwide modeling search co-hosted by The Oprah Winfrey Show and the Elite Agency, with judges including John Casablancas, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Iman selecting her as the winner. Following her junior year, she traveled to New York City to sign with Elite Agency, spent the summer modeling, and made a trip to Japan before returning to complete her senior year and graduating in 1991. Her modeling work included cover appearances on publications such as Seventeen, CosmoGirl, FHM, Maxim, Teen, YM, Paper, L'Officiel, Gear, Stuff, and 944, as well as features in the 2001 FHM calendar and the Maxim Uncut 2001 15-Month calendar.
Bibb made her television debut in 1996 with appearances on Pacific Blue and Home Improvement, and her first film role came in the Howard Stern comedy Private Parts. She subsequently replaced Susan Walters as the female lead in the second season of The Big Easy before the series was cancelled due to low ratings. Additional early credits included the romantic drama Touch Me (1997) and a supporting role in This Space Between Us (1999). Her career gained significant momentum in 1999 when she was cast as Brooke McQueen, a straight-A student, cheerleader, and the most popular girl at Kennedy High School, in the WB Network series Popular, which ran through 2001. The role earned her a Teen Choice Award for Television Choice Actress and a Young Hollywood Award nomination for Exciting New Face – Female. During the run of Popular, she appeared in the psychological thriller The Skulls (1999), which drew negative critical notices but performed well at the box office.
Subsequent film and television work included the 2001 comedy See Spot Run, recurring roles on ER and Crossing Jordan as Detective Lu Simmons, and a lead role on the series Line of Fire. In 2006, Bibb appeared as Desiree in the independent film Wristcutters: A Love Story, which received nominations for the Sundance Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize, two Independent Spirit Awards, and the Humanitas Prize. That same year she played Will Ferrell's wife Carley in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. She was cast as Dr. Miranda Storm in the black comedy Sex and Death 101, released direct-to-video in 2007, and starred as Maya Jones in Ryuhei Kitamura's horror film The Midnight Meat Train (2008), based on Clive Barker's 1984 short story.
Bibb's profile in franchise filmmaking grew when she portrayed journalist Christine Everhart in Iron Man (2008), a role she reprised in Iron Man 2 (2010), which earned a worldwide gross of $621.8 million. Also in 2009, she appeared in the box-office hit Confessions of a Shopaholic and played Sarah Lowell in the thriller Law Abiding Citizen, released October 16, 2009. She held a pivotal recurring role as Katrina Ghent on the NBC series Kings during the same period. In 2010, Bibb co-produced and starred in the independent comedy Miss Nobody, winning the Best Actress Award at the 26th Boston Film Festival for her performance. Further film credits include The Zookeeper (2011), the comedy Tag (2017), and the Netflix horror-comedy The Babysitter (2017), with a sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, following in 2020.
On the stage, Bibb is a Broadway performer who appeared on Broadway in 2009 and participated in The 24 Hour Plays in 2004. Her television work in the 2020s has included the role of Grace Sampson in Netflix's superhero series Jupiter's Legacy (2021), Satan in Netflix's workplace comedy God's Favorite Idiot (2021), Dinah Donahue in the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale (2024), and Kate in the third season of HBO's The White Lotus (2025). She starred as Amanda Vaughn on ABC's GCB beginning March 4, 2012, though the series was cancelled after ten episodes, and recurred as Viv on ABC's American Housewife beginning in 2016.
In her personal life, Bibb has been in a relationship with actor Sam Rockwell since 2007, having met in Los Angeles while he was filming Frost/Nixon. The two have appeared together in Iron Man 2, Don Verdean, and The White Lotus. Among her philanthropic activities, Bibb supported Friends of El Faro, a grassroots organization raising funds for the Casa Hogar Sion orphanage in Tijuana, through multiple benefit appearances in the mid-2000s. In 2008, Revlon's Almay brand named her its ambassador, and she appeared in global multimedia campaigns for the company's cosmetics collections. In 2010, she served as national spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month in partnership with the nonprofit LIFE Foundation.
