About
Laurel Griggs (June 28, 2006 – November 5, 2019) was an American child actress who worked in Broadway theatre, film, and television. Born in 2006, she began her stage career at the age of six and accumulated over a thousand Broadway performances before her death at age thirteen.
Griggs made her Broadway debut in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, taking on the role of Polly. She subsequently joined the cast of the musical Once, where she portrayed Ivanka in a run that lasted a record-setting seventeen months, spanning 2013 to 2015. Her television work included appearances on the series Louie and Bubble Guppies, as well as two episodes of Saturday Night Live. She also appeared in the Woody Allen film Café Society.
Griggs died on November 5, 2019, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan following a massive asthma attack that had gone previously undiagnosed. She was thirteen years old at the time of her death. She was Jewish and is buried at New Montefiore Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Rivlin, and her father, Andrew Griggs.
