About

Laura Marie Breckenridge, born August 22, 1983, in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, is an American actress whose work spans stage, film, and television. The daughter of John and Diane Breckenridge, she trained as a dancer at The Rock School for Dance Education, the School of American Ballet in New York City, and the Royal Ballet in London. She completed her secondary education at Professional Children's School in New York City while actively pursuing an acting career.

Breckenridge's screen work began in 1998 with a minor role as twelve-year-old Gabby in Went to Coney Island on a Mission from God... Be Back by Five. She followed that with small television appearances on The Jersey and Boston Public in 2001.

In February 2002, she was cast in a Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, performing alongside Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, and Kristen Bell. The production ran for 101 performances between March 7 and June 9 of that year. Later in 2002, Breckenridge enrolled at Princeton University, where she joined the BodyHype Dance Company and participated in campus theater. During her sophomore year, she took a leave from Princeton to appear in the Off-Broadway play The Moonlight Room.

Her first major film role came in 2005, when she played Bell Granger in Southern Belles. That same year, she joined the cast of The WB series Related, portraying college student Rose Sorelli across nineteen episodes, a role for which she became particularly recognized. In 2006, she appeared in Loving Annabelle as Colins, a character in a story centered on a Catholic school student and her female teacher. Additional film credits from this period include Let Them Chirp Awhile (2007) as Dara, The Favor (2007) as Young Caroline, Beautiful Loser (2008) as Tracy, and Amusement (2008) as Shelby Leds.

After a four-year absence from Princeton, Breckenridge returned in 2008 to complete her undergraduate degree. In 2010, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics, having written a senior thesis titled "Confronting Medea: Exploring the Duality of the Other."

Her television work continued throughout this period and beyond. She appeared in three episodes of Gossip Girl in 2009, played Dawn Lucas on Drop Dead Diva in 2010, and portrayed Julie Crenshaw on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2011, she guest starred on Grey's Anatomy as Julia and starred in the holiday film A Christmas Kiss, which premiered December 11, 2011, on the Ion Television network. Her 2012 television appearances included CSI: NY as Lisa Roberts in the episode "Clean Sweep," The Mob Doctor as Sara Anderson in the episode "Legacy," and Blue Bloods as Dana in the episode "Higher Education." She reprised the role of Dana on Blue Bloods in the 2013 episode "Mistaken Identity."
