About

Lara Jill Miller is an American actress born on April 20, 1967, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Lois (née Noll) and Stanley Miller. Both of her parents were Jewish. Her mother founded a talent agency called Star Talent Management, while her father owned and operated a pajama factory and was active in community theater, including work as an extra in the film Hairspray. Miller's introduction to performing came through a local dinner theater, which she pursued after spotting an auditions notice in a newspaper and asking her father to explain the word. She later graduated from William Allen High School in Allentown.

Miller's professional career began on Broadway, where she appeared in 1980 in a revival of The Music Man, playing Amaryllis alongside Dick Van Dyke. The following year she joined the NBC sitcom Gimme a Break!, portraying the tomboyish Samantha "Sam" Kanisky opposite Nell Carter for the series' six-season run, which concluded in 1987. After the show ended, Miller enrolled at New York University, where she competed on the women's varsity tennis team while continuing to perform on stage nationally. She subsequently earned a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, departing her own graduation ceremony early to play Peter Pan in a production at the Pennsylvania Youth Theater. She was subsequently admitted to the bar in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Miller returned to on-camera work in 1999, taking on recurring roles in the Nickelodeon series The Amanda Show and All That, as well as on General Hospital. Around the same time she began an extensive voice acting career, contributing to numerous animated series and films. Her early voice credits include Kari in Digimon and its feature film, Koko in Zatch Bell!, Alejo in Astro Boy, and Scheris Adjani in s-CRY-ed. She also provided the singing voice of Dorothy Gale in a National Public Radio adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Miller went on to voice the title characters in several animated series, among them The Life and Times of Juniper Lee on Cartoon Network, Clifford's Puppy Days on PBS Kids, and Henry Hugglemonster on Disney Junior. Additional voice roles include Widget on the Nick Jr. series Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, Allie Renkins on the PBS series Curious George, Izzie on SciGirls, and recurring characters Pookie, Wiki, and Tini on Disney Channel's Higglytown Heroes. For five seasons she voiced Lambie on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior series Doc McStuffins. On the Nickelodeon series The Loud House, she voiced multiple characters including Lisa Loud, Liam Hunnicutt, Becky, Persephone, and Nurse Patti. She voiced Fink in OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes, Julie in Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, and Cat in If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. From 2021 to 2024, she performed the role of Libby Stein-Torres in the Disney production The Ghost and Molly McGee. In 2020, her voice work included an episode of DC Super Hero Girls and the English dub of Beastars, in which she played Haru.

In 2006, Miller's mother was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a progressive brain disease that led to the closure of her talent agency. Miller has since worked to raise public awareness of the condition.
