About

Lance Guest is an American actor born on July 21, 1960, in Saratoga, California, where he first developed a serious interest in acting as a high school freshman at Saratoga High School. He later pursued that interest academically, majoring in theater at UCLA.

Guest entered film in 1981 with a supporting role in Halloween II, playing a character named Jimmy alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. That same period also saw him appear in The Roommate, based on a work by John Updike, and in Neil Simon's I Ought to Be in Pictures. His most prominent film role came in 1984 with The Last Starfighter, in which he played dual parts: Alex Rogan, the film's central character, and Beta, a robot duplicate sent to stand in for Alex during his absence. He followed that with the lead role of Michael Brody in Jaws: The Revenge in 1987. Later film credits include Stepsister from Planet Weird (2000), in which he played Cosmo Cola, and The Jennie Project (2001), where he portrayed Hugo Archibald, as well as an appearance in Mach 2 that same year.

On television, Guest held recurring roles on Lou Grant from 1981 to 1982 and on Knots Landing in 1991. He also made guest appearances on a wide range of series, including St. Elsewhere, The Wonder Years, Party of Five, JAG, NYPD Blue, The X-Files, Becker, Life Goes On, House, and Jericho.

Guest made his Broadway debut in 2010 in Million Dollar Quartet, portraying Johnny Cash. The musical depicts a fictionalized account of the only recording session that brought together Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley simultaneously. He continued in the production through 2012, performing both on and off-Broadway during that run.
