About

Kevyn Morrow is an American actor, singer, and choreographer who was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating from Omaha Northwest High School in 1978. His Broadway career has spanned from 1975 to 2026, encompassing original cast productions, long-running revivals, and acclaimed touring engagements.

Morrow entered Broadway as a member of the original cast of Leader of the Pack, a production that also featured Annie Golden. He subsequently joined A Chorus Line, eventually becoming part of the show's closing cast in 1990. Among his earliest and most significant Broadway credits was his role in the original cast of Dreamgirls, a Michael Bennett production in which he played C.C. White to critical acclaim. Morrow remained connected to that production across multiple iterations, appearing in its Broadway run, its national tour, and its 1987 revival, as well as taking on the role of Curtis Taylor in a regional staging.

His Broadway career continued with appearances in Smokey Joe's Cafe, Dream, The Scarlet Pimpernel, the 2002 revival of Anything Goes, the 2015 revival of The Color Purple, Bandstand, Moulin Rouge!, the 2024 revival of Our Town, and Floyd Collins. From October 2021 through 2022, Morrow starred as Hades in the first US national tour of Hadestown. He joined the tour of Moulin Rouge! in 2023 and returned to that production in January 2026 in the role of Toulouse-Lautrec.

In 2002, Morrow made his West End debut at the Shaftesbury Theatre in Rob Bettinson and Alan Janes' 125th Street. He then starred in the London premiere of Ragtime at the Piccadilly Theatre, directed by Stafford Arima, playing Coalhouse Walker Jr., a performance that earned him a nomination for the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

Off-Broadway, Morrow appeared in the original production of The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin alongside Tony winner La Chanze, and played the title character of Blue Williams in Blue. He appeared in the Primary Stages production of While I Yet Live as Vernon in 2014, and more recently took part in the premiere presentation of Ripper the musical, directed by Stephen Amato at New World Stages.

Morrow's regional work has included Once on This Island at the Bay Street Theatre, a production filmed for the Lincoln Center Archives, and a staging of Ragtime in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, for which he received the award for Best Performance by a Visiting Actor. He was nominated for the Helen Hayes Award for his work in Tambourines to Glory in Washington, D.C., and appeared as Billy Strayhorn in the national touring company of Stormy Weather, starring Leslie Uggams as Lena Horne, including a run at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia.

On television, Morrow held a recurring role on One Life to Live and made appearances on Law & Order, Hope and Faith, Coach, Murphy Brown, and Ed, among other programs. His film credits include the 1983 John Travolta film Staying Alive and the 2002 film Barbershop, in which he played a character identified as monk. Morrow is also a member of the Broadway show choir and has worked periodically as a choreographer in regional theater.
