Kevin Serge Durand is a Canadian actor born on January 14, 1974, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Reina (née Perreault) and Serge Durand. He is of French-Canadian descent. In 2001, Durand appeared on Broadway in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
Durand's screen career began with a role in Mystery, Alaska. He has since taken on a wide range of film parts, frequently playing characters on both sides of the law. Among his film credits are Jeeves Tremor in Smokin' Aces, Tucker in the 2007 remake of 3:10 to Yuma, Booth in Walking Tall, Red in Wild Hogs, and Carlos in The Butterfly Effect. He appeared alongside Hugh Jackman twice, portraying Fred J. Dukes, known as The Blob, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and in Real Steel. Additional film roles include Gabriel in Legion, Little John in Robin Hood, Barry Burton in Resident Evil: Retribution, Officer Caruso in Fruitvale Station, and the title role in Otis E. In 2012, Durand co-starred in both Citizen Gangster and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis. His portrayal of Lenny Jackson in Citizen Gangster earned him a Genie nomination for Best Supporting Actor that same year. He subsequently appeared in The Mortal Instruments, Darren Aronofsky's Noah, and two films directed by Atom Egoyan, Devil's Knot and The Captive. In 2024, he portrayed Proximus Caesar in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
On television, Durand has held series regular roles as Joshua in Dark Angel, Agent Jay Swopes in the American remake of Touching Evil, Harbard the Wanderer in Vikings, and Vasiliy Fet in The Strain. He recurred as Lord Zipacna in Stargate SG-1, as Martin Keamy in Lost, and as Dr. Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man, in the 2019 season of Swamp Thing. He also portrayed Frederick Gideon in Locke & Key. His guest credits include CSI, CSI: Miami, ER, Without a Trace, and Dead Like Me.
In April 2024, Durand confirmed plans to make his directorial and screenwriting debut with The Hockey Player, a project he has been developing since 2010 and is co-writing with Adam MacDonald. On October 1, 2010, Durand married Sandra Cho, and the couple have two daughters.
