About
Paul Kevin Jonas II was born on November 5, 1987, in Teaneck, New Jersey, and grew up in Wyckoff. His father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., is a songwriter, musician, and former ordained minister at an Assemblies of God church, and his mother, Denise Marie (née Miller), worked as a sign language teacher and singer. He has three younger brothers: Joe (born 1989), Nick (born 1992), and Franklin (born 2000). As a child, Jonas appeared in television commercials and print advertisements. He attended Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, New Jersey. Unlike his brothers, he did not initially pursue music, coming to the guitar only after discovering a book on the instrument and playing his father's guitar.
Jonas is a singer, musician, and actor best known as the lead guitarist of the pop rock band Jonas Brothers. The group's origins trace to 2005, when Columbia Records president Steve Greenberg heard Nick Jonas's solo record and, after listening to the song "Please Be Mine" — written and performed by all three brothers — signed them as a group act under the Daylight/Columbia imprint. The brothers considered the name "Sons of Jonas" before settling on Jonas Brothers. Their debut album, It's About Time, was released on August 8, 2006, in a limited run of just over 50,000 copies. Columbia dropped the band in early 2007 after declining to promote them further.
The Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records in February 2007, and their self-titled second album was released on August 7 of that year, reaching number five on the Billboard 200 in its first week. That same year, the brothers guest-starred in the Hannah Montana episode "Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas," which aired on August 17, 2007, drawing 10.7 million viewers and setting a record as basic cable's most-watched series telecast at the time. The brothers became central figures on the Disney Channel through several additional projects. In Camp Rock (2008), Jonas played Jason, a guitarist in the fictional band Connect 3; the sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, followed in 2010. The reality series Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream premiered on May 16, 2008, and documented the brothers during the Look Me in the Eyes Tour, later returning for a second season in 2010 that followed the European leg of their World Tour 2009. The scripted Disney Channel series Jonas premiered on May 2, 2009, and was renewed for a second season, retitled Jonas L.A., which premiered on June 20, 2010.
The band's third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, was released on August 12, 2008, and reached number one on the Billboard 200. Their fourth studio album, Lines, Vines, and Trying Times, was released on June 16, 2009, also debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with 247,000 copies sold. On May 1, 2012, the Jonas Brothers parted ways with Hollywood Records and acquired the rights to their own music. The band officially announced a breakup on October 29, 2013, citing creative differences.
During the hiatus period, Jonas appeared in the E! reality series Married to Jonas, which premiered on August 19, 2012, and was produced by Ryan Seacrest. The show documented his domestic life with his wife, Danielle Jonas, as well as the brothers' recording efforts. Its second season concluded on May 26, 2013. Following the band's breakup, Jonas founded JonasWerner, a real estate development and construction company, and became co-CEO of The Blu Market, a company focused on influencer marketing and social media strategy. He appeared in the seventh season of Celebrity Apprentice, filmed in spring 2014 throughout New York City, where he was eliminated in the second episode after his team lost a competition he led. He also made a cameo in a 2014 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey in his capacity as a contractor. In 2015, he created the food app Yood, and as of 2016 held a partnership with the video-sharing app We Heart It.
On February 28, 2019, the Jonas Brothers announced their reunion, nearly six years after the breakup. They released the single "Sucker" on March 1, 2019, and participated in a week-long segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The band's documentary Chasing Happiness was released on June 4, 2019, on Amazon Prime Video, followed by a companion compilation album, Music from Chasing Happiness, on May 9, 2019. Their fifth studio album, Happiness Begins, was released that summer. A second Amazon Prime Video documentary, Happiness Continues, followed in 2020.
Jonas made his Broadway debut in 2023 as part of Jonas Brothers on Broadway. He had previously appeared on People magazine's list of the Sexiest Men Alive in 2008 at age 21, placing him in the publication's 21 Club. On November 20, 2025, he released his debut solo single, "Changing."
