About
Kerry Bishé is an American actress who grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Her father, Kenneth Bishé, taught social studies at Montclair Kimberley Academy, from which she graduated before enrolling at Northwestern University in 2006.
Bishé began her professional performance career in the summer of 2004, touring with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks in the role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. She subsequently appeared in a 2006 production of Eugene O'Neill's The Hairy Ape and in the Roundabout revival of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, the latter constituting her Broadway credit in 2007. Her screen debut came that same year, when she portrayed Sarah Rosen in the low-budget production The Half Life of Mason Lake. She followed that with extra appearances in the first Sex and the City film adaptation and The Lucky Ones, as well as a small role in The Understudy (2008).
A television pilot called Night Life, directed by Scrubs star Zach Braff, did not advance Bishé's profile significantly, but it established a working relationship with Braff that later proved consequential. In 2009, she appeared in individual episodes of the American version of Life on Mars and the USA comedy drama Royal Pains, and took the lead role in the TV movie produced from the unaired sci-fi pilot Virtuality. In December of that year, she joined the ABC medical sitcom Scrubs in its ninth season, assuming the lead role of Lucy Bennett, the show's narrator, a position previously held by Braff. ABC cancelled the series on May 14, 2010.
Bishé's film work in the early 2010s included the independent comedy Nice Guy Johnny (2010) alongside Edward Burns and Matt Bush, a supporting role in Kevin Smith's horror film Red State (2011), and a supporting part in Ben Affleck's drama Argo (2012). She co-starred with Elijah Wood in the independent film Grand Piano in 2013. In Argo, she appeared opposite Scoot McNairy, who portrayed her character's husband — a casting coincidence that was repeated when McNairy was cast as her on-screen spouse in the AMC period drama series Halt and Catch Fire, in which Bishé starred as Donna Clark from 2014 to 2017. She also appeared in season three of Narcos, playing Cristina Jurado, the American wife of Cali Cartel money launderer Franklin Jurado.
In 2023, Bishé returned to the stage, starring in The Fears, a play produced by Steven Soderbergh. She is married to actor Chris Lowell, and the couple have a daughter.
