About
Kenny D'Aquila is an American actor, writer, producer, and singer born in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, where he was raised alongside his parents and three brothers. In high school, D'Aquila served as a captain of his football team until an injury brought his athletic career to an end. He subsequently relocated to Hollywood to pursue work in acting and screenwriting, taking jobs as a waiter to support himself during that period.
D'Aquila's stage career includes a prominent role in the 2nd National Tour of Les Misérables, known as the "Fantine Company," in which he played Grantaire. The tour opened at the Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles on June 1, 1988, and D'Aquila remained with the production throughout its fourteen-month run in that city. His performance was selected for inclusion on the musical's Complete Symphonic Recording, released in 1988, which received the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. His Broadway credit in Les Misérables dates to 1988. Across his stage career, D'Aquila has appeared in more than thirty plays.
Following the death of his father from cancer, family tensions that arose in the aftermath became the basis for his play Unorganized Crime. D'Aquila wrote, produced, and starred in the work, which had its Los Angeles premiere opposite Chazz Palminteri.
His television appearances include Hill Street Blues, Hotel, and L.A. Law in 1986; Matlock, Ohara, and Santa Barbara in 1987; Jake and the Fatman in 1989; and Father Dowling Mysteries in 1991. He also appeared in the 1988 film Caddyshack II. At a certain point in his life, D'Aquila stepped back from the entertainment industry to concentrate on raising his son.
