Keith Szarabajka is an American actor born on December 2, 1952, in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Anne, a schoolteacher, and Edward Szarabajka, a savings and loan officer. His father was a decorated World War II veteran who served in North Africa and Italy and received the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart. Szarabajka attended Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, and John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, before enrolling at the University of Chicago and Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He further developed his craft at the Organic Theater in Chicago between 1972 and 1978, during which time he co-wrote Bleacher Bums alongside Joe Mantegna and Stuart Gordon, among others.

Szarabajka's Broadway career spanned from 1973 to 1992, during which he appeared in Warp and originated the role of B.D. in Doonesbury. He also starred in Search and Destroy. His screen career began to take shape in 1982 with a supporting role in the Costa-Gavras film Missing. He went on to play Mickey Kostmayer in the 1980s television series The Equalizer and took the lead role in Stephen King's Golden Years. In 1994, he portrayed Matthew Stoner in the Babylon 5 episode Soul Mates. His television work also includes appearances on Profit, The X-Files, Becker, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Charmed, Roswell, 24, The Inside, and Law & Order. He portrayed the recurring character of vampire hunter Daniel Holtz in Angel, the spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and beginning in 2016 appeared as Donatello Redfield in nine episodes of Supernatural through the show's conclusion in 2020. On film, he played Detective Gerard Stephens in The Dark Knight and appeared as Adam Engell in Argo.

Szarabajka has maintained a substantial presence in voice acting across video games, animation, and audio productions. His game credits include Dr. Terrence Kyne in Dead Space, Major General Spencer Mahad in Dead Space 3, Joshua Graham in the Fallout: New Vegas downloadable content Honest Hearts, Harbinger in Mass Effect 2, Detective Herschel Biggs in L.A. Noire, and the Ur-Didact in Halo 4. He voiced Executor Pallin in the original Mass Effect and reprised related roles in its sequels. Additional game credits include Dmitri Yuriev in the Xenosaga series, Emile Dufraisne in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent, The Master of Whispers in Guild Wars: Nightfall, Venom in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, the Autobot Ironhide in Transformers: War for Cybertron and its 2012 sequel Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Mr. Freeze in Young Justice, Gilgamesh in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Russman in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Cornelius Slate in BioShock Infinite, Bastion in X-Men Destiny, Ronan the Accuser in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Living Laser in Ultimate Spider-Man, the Witch-king of Angmar in Guardians of Middle-earth, Laserbeak in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and multiple characters in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In the Darksiders franchise, he voiced the Archangel Azrael in Darksiders: Wrath of War, the Crowfather, The Scribe, and Wicked Killington in Darksiders 2, and Wicked Killington again in Darksiders: Genesis. He also voiced characters in Dragon Age: Origins, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, and Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising and its follow-up Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution.

In the field of audio books, Szarabajka won the 2001 Audie Award for Best Fiction, Unabridged, for his narration of Tom Robbins's Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates. His other audio work includes Fear Nothing and Seize the Night by Dean Koontz, Rising Sun by Michael Crichton, Nelson Algren's Walk on the Wild Side, The Mark of Zorro opposite Val Kilmer, and a Grammy-nominated audio dramatization of The Maltese Falcon.
