Keith Prentice

Keith Prentice (February 21, 1940 – September 27, 1992) was an American actor who worked across stage, film, and television. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.

Prentice's stage career included both Broadway and off-Broadway work. His Broadway credits, spanning 1959 to 1961, included The Sound of Music and Sail Away. His musical theatre work also extended to Paint Your Wagon and The King and I. In 1968, he appeared off-Broadway in The Boys in the Band, a play centered on gay characters gathered at a birthday party in the summer preceding the Stonewall riots. He reprised the role of Larry in the 1970 film adaptation of the same production, directed by William Friedkin.

On television, Prentice joined the cast of the soap opera Dark Shadows in 1971, during the final months of the series, portraying Morgan Collins in the show's 1841 parallel time storyline. His film work included the role of Nils Fowler in the 1972 western The Legend of Nigger Charley, as well as a small part in the 1980 film Cruising, which was also directed by William Friedkin. For a period of time, his image appeared on the Taster's Choice coffee label.

In 1982, Prentice co-founded Kettering Theatre Under the Stars in Kettering, Ohio, and continued directing summer productions there for the remainder of his life. He died of cancer on September 27, 1992.
