About
Keith Nobbs is an American stage, television, and film actor born on April 9, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois. A graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, he is perhaps best known to television audiences for playing Joey "Ice Cream" in the NBC series The Black Donnellys.
Nobbs entered professional theater in 1998 with Stupid Kids, a production directed by Michael Mayer at the WPA Theatre. That same year he appeared in Hope Is the Thing With Feathers with the Drama Department. His Broadway debut followed in 1999 when the Roundabout Theatre Company cast him as John in The Lion in Winter at the Criterion Center Stage Right, a production directed again by Mayer and starring Laurence Fishburne and Stockard Channing. Also in 1999, he appeared as Kenny in Fuddy Meers at Manhattan Theatre Club.
His off-Broadway work continued steadily through the early 2000s. He performed in Free to Be... You and Me with the Drama Department in 2002, and that same year played June in Four at Manhattan Theatre Club, a performance that earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play and a Lucille Lortel Award win in the same category. In 2003 he appeared as Mark in Dublin Carol at the Atlantic Theater Company, followed by the world premiere of David Mamet's Romance at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2005, in which he played Bernard. His 2005 off-Broadway credits also include the role of Van in Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead at the Century Center for the Performing Arts.
Nobbs returned to Broadway in 2010, appearing as Michael McCormick in Lombardi at Circle in the Square Theatre alongside Dan Lauria and Judith Light. In 2014 he played Billy Martin in Bronx Bombers, also at Circle in the Square. His Broadway career thus spans credits from 1999 through 2014. He is a member of the Drama Department and the Vineyard Theatre Community of Artists.
On television, Nobbs has appeared in New York Undercover, The Sopranos, multiple episodes of Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He played Bud "Runner" Conley in HBO's The Pacific in 2010 and appeared in Person of Interest in 2011 and Public Morals in 2015. His film work includes Double Whammy, Phone Booth, 25th Hour, It Runs in the Family, and the independent productions I Will Avenge You, Iago! and Premium, as well as Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight in 2013.
