Kathryn Hereford

Kathryn Hereford (1910–1993) was an American actress, dancer, and film producer whose career spanned Broadway, Hollywood, and the production offices of Paramount Pictures.

Hereford's entry into show business came through Florenz Ziegfeld, who discovered her and launched her stage career. Between 1926 and 1930 she appeared in a series of Broadway musicals, including Criss Cross, Say When, Sidewalks of New York, Show Girl, and Ripples. Following her years on the stage, she moved into film work, with her first known screen credit coming in 1935's The Great Ziegfeld.

Her career took a significant turn when she shifted from performing to producing under Paramount, working alongside producer Pandro S. Berman. Her first producing credit was on the 1957 Elvis Presley film Jailhouse Rock; Berman later stated that he brought her onto the project because of her longstanding enthusiasm for Presley. That credit marked the beginning of a producing career that extended across twelve films. The majority of her work was as associate producer, though she served as lead producer on the 1960 film Key Witness. Her other producing credits include The Brothers Karamazov (1958), The Reluctant Debutante (1958), Butterfield 8 (1960), All the Fine Young Cannibals (1960), Sweet Bird of Youth (1962), The Prize (1963), Honeymoon Hotel (1964), A Patch of Blue (1965), Justine (1969), and Move (1970).

In 1960, Hereford married Pandro S. Berman, becoming his second wife. The two remained married until her death in 1993.
