Katherine Leigh Doherty

Katherine Leigh Doherty is an American actress and business reporter who grew up in Dover, Massachusetts. She attended the performing arts summer camp Stagedoor Manor and began her theatrical training with community organizations, including Open Fields theater group, with which she participated in numerous productions from a young age.

Doherty's first professional stage credit was Irving Berlin's White Christmas, which launched a Broadway career spanning 2005 to 2009. She subsequently joined the Broadway cast of Mary Poppins, where she originated the role of Jane Banks. Her work in the production extended to television, as she appeared on the Disney Channel program Disney 365 to give viewers a tour of the Mary Poppins set. Her Broadway credits also include A Little Night Music, in which she portrayed Fredrika Armfeldt opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones during the show's run from November 2009 to January 2010.

Outside of Broadway, Doherty took on the lead role in the Regis College production of Still Life with Iris in the spring of 2006. Her school theater work included a Dover-Sherborn Middle School production of Guys and Dolls, in which she played Sarah Brown, and Noble and Greenough School productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie, where she served as understudy to Andrea Ross for the role of Millie while also playing a primary hotel girl, and Bat Boy, in which she played Shelley.

Her community theater work included The Secret Garden, where she starred as Mary Lennox and received a Best Child Actor EMACT Award, as well as The Sound of Music, Sara Crewe: A Little Princess, and the title role in Annie with Open Fields theater group. Doherty has also performed the national anthem and God Bless America at Fenway Park in Boston and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Following her performing career, she became a business reporter for Bloomberg News.
