Katarzyna Skarpetowska

Katarzyna Skarpetowska is a Polish-born dancer and choreographer who made her Broadway debut in the musical Metro in 1992, performing in the production at approximately age 15 under the direction of Janusz Józefowicz.

Following her Broadway run, Skarpetowska enrolled at New York City's High School for the Performing Arts before pursuing formal dance training at The Juilliard School, where she studied under artistic director Benjamin Harkarvy and earned a BFA in Dance in 1999. Upon graduating, she joined Parsons Dance Company, where she remained through 2006 and performed leading roles in the company's repertory, including the iconic work Caught. From 2007 to 2014, she danced with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, appearing at venues including New York's City Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Bolshoi Theater. She also served as a guest artist with Battleworks Dance Company and Buglisi Dance Theater.

Skarpetowska has developed a parallel career as a choreographer, with work described as providing a more emotionally complicated contrast to the choreography of David Parsons. Her original works have been performed by a wide range of companies, including Richmond Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater II, the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Parsons Dance, Buglisi Dance Theater, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, and Hubbard Street 2. In 2016, Dance Magazine named her one of its "25 to Watch." She is based in New York City.
