Karla Tamburrelli

Karla Tamburrelli, born in 1956, is an American actress and television producer whose career has spanned stage, film, and television.

Tamburrelli began her professional stage work with the U.S. national tour of Maury Yeston's musical Nine in 1984, playing the role of Carla. That production also marked her Broadway credit. She later took on the role of Grandma Kurnitz in Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers at the Royal George Theatre in Chicago, a run that extended from 1992 to 1994. Her performance in that production earned her the 1993 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Principal Role, presented for the Fox Theatre production in Chicago, Illinois.

Her screen work began with a guest appearance on Miami Vice in 1985. Tamburrelli made her feature film debut in Die Hard 2 in 1990 and followed that with roles in City Slickers and Nothing but Trouble, both released in 1991. On television she accumulated guest appearances on Seinfeld, Friends, Mad About You, and the crime drama Brooklyn South. Her most sustained television role was Detective Darlene "D. B." Broussard in The Big Easy, for which she appeared in thirteen episodes during the first season.

In the late 1990s Tamburrelli moved into television production. She joined the production staff of the inaugural Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in 1995 and, alongside Yale Summers, was elevated to producer beginning with the 4th ceremony in 1998. She continued as a lead producer through the 12th ceremony in 2006, with responsibilities that included supervising entry submissions, nominating-committee screenings, and the live TNT/TBS telecasts.
