Karl Glusman

Karl Glusman is an American actor born on January 3, 1988, in the Bronx, New York City. When he was six months old, his family relocated to the Portland, Oregon area, where he grew up and attended Lake Oswego High School. His father is of German Jewish descent and his mother is of Irish Catholic ancestry. Glusman enrolled at Portland State University but left after a year, pursuing acting through courses taken during his time in college and at the Portland Actors Conservatory. He later trained at the William Esper Studio in New York City.

Glusman made his Broadway debut in 2012 in Golden Boy. His screen career gained significant attention when Argentine-French director Gaspar Noé cast him in the lead role of Love (2015), a drama notable for its depiction of unsimulated sex. The film premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, where its premiere sold all 2,200 seats in the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. At Cannes, Glusman met filmmaker and fashion designer Tom Ford, who subsequently cast him in Nocturnal Animals (2016). That same year, he appeared in Nicolas Winding Refn's thriller The Neon Demon. In 2020, Glusman appeared alongside Tom Hanks in Aaron Schneider's Greyhound. Prior to his film career, he had shot a television commercial for Adidas before relocating to France.

In 2016, Glusman began a relationship with actress Zoë Kravitz. The two became engaged in February 2018, and were married on June 29, 2019, at the Paris home of Kravitz's father, musician Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz filed for divorce on December 23, 2020, after 18 months of marriage, and the divorce was finalized in August 2021.
