About
Kaiulani Lee is an American actress born in 1950 and originally from Arlington, Virginia, whose career spans stage, television, and film. She is perhaps best known for her work on A Sense of Wonder, a stage and film production in which she portrayed environmentalist Rachel Carson and for which she also served as the writer.
Lee's Broadway career ran from 1975 to 1985 and included appearances in Pack of Lies, Kennedy's Children, and Macbeth. Her performance in Kennedy's Children earned her a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play in 1976. Beyond Broadway, her stage work brought her an Obie Award for Best Performance by an Actress for Safe House.
Her screen credits are extensive. On television, Lee portrayed Martha Ballard in the PBS production A Midwife's Tale and appeared in series including The Waltons and Law & Order. Her film work includes The World According to Garp, Cujo, Before and After, A Bird of the Air, and Stephanie Daley, among others.
