About

June Harding (September 7, 1937 – March 22, 2019) was an American actress born in Emporia, Virginia. She graduated from Greensville County High School in 1955 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in acting from Richmond Professional Institute. Following graduation, she relocated to New York City, where she studied under Lonny Chapman at The Theater Studio of New York and supplemented her training with ballet and yoga.

Before reaching Broadway, Harding built her stage experience through off-Broadway productions, appearing in The Innocents Abroad, The Boy Friend, and Cry of the Raindrop. Her work in Cry of the Raindrop during the 1960–1961 season earned her a Daniel Blum Theatre World Award. During the summer of 1961, she also performed with a stock company at the Cecilwood Theater in Fishkill, New York. That same year, she secured a recurring role on the CBS daytime soap opera As the World Turns.

In December 1961, Harding made her Broadway debut in the comedy Take Her, She's Mine, playing Liz Michaelson, the youngest daughter of the character portrayed by Art Carney. Elizabeth Ashley played her sister in the production and won a Tony Award for the role. Harding's Broadway career is rooted in this single verified credit from 1961.

Her television work spanned much of the 1960s and into the early 1970s. She was a regular cast member on NBC's anthology series The Richard Boone Show from 1963 to 1964 and appeared in a 1964 episode of The Cara Williams Show. She had two roles on The Fugitive, playing Joanna Mercer in the 1965 episode "Moon Child" and Cathy in the 1966 episode "Ten Thousand Pieces of Silver." A Universal made-for-television film, Dial Hot Line, led to a series, and Harding continued her role as Ann in the ABC medical drama Matt Lincoln from 1970 to 1971.

On film, Harding is perhaps best known for her role opposite Hayley Mills and Rosalind Russell in the 1966 feature The Trouble with Angels. Neither Harding nor Mills appeared in the film's sequel, Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows.

Harding married Gary Thomas in the 1970s and retired from show business by the late 1970s. The couple relocated to Maine before eventually separating. She settled in Blue Hill, Maine, where she became a visual artist. Harding died in hospice care on March 22, 2019, at the age of 81, of natural causes. A memorial service was held on April 13, 2019, at Monumental United Methodist Church in Emporia, Virginia.
