Julie Garnyé is a singer, actress, voiceover artist, and host whose Broadway appearances span the years 2003 to 2004. Her credits include Hair in Concert, in which she served as a last-minute replacement for Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, and Chess in Concert.
Beyond Broadway, Garnyé has accumulated an extensive range of stage credits across New York, Los Angeles, and national touring productions. In Los Angeles, she appeared in Les Misérables at The Hollywood Bowl, directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, and Chess in Concert at the Ford Amphitheatre. She starred alongside Alan Cumming and Alice Ripley in Open All Night: The Music of Lance Horne, and performed in the reading of Georgia Stitt's musical The Water, later reprising the role of Susan in a Los Angeles production of that show in April 2009. In New York, she participated in the reading of Lance Horne's musical The Strip and, in 2007, was the only performer invited from outside New York to appear in an all-star Stephen Schwartz tribute concert at Town Hall. Additional New York credits include Broadway by the Year 1978 at Town Hall, Children of Eden in Concert, Pippin in Concert, the NAMT Songwriters Showcase 2005, and the Easter Bonnet Competition.
Garnyé toured nationally in CATS, playing both Grizabella and Jennyanydots, as well as in It's Not Where You Start. Her regional theater work includes productions of Bat Boy: The Musical, West Side Story, George M, Fiddler on the Roof, and Bye Bye Birdie. She has also been a regular performer at Cast Party at Birdland in New York and The Upright Cabaret in West Hollywood.
Her recording credits include the Sh-K-Boom Records cast recording of Hair, a Stage-Stars Karaoke recording of Wicked in which she provided guide vocals as Elphaba, the PS Classics release Fine and Dandy, the Broadway by the Year 1978 Original Cast Album, Laura Bell Bundy's debut album Longing for a Place Already Gone, Folkzinger with Christine Lavin, and individual tracks for composers Lance Horne and Georgia Stitt. In film, she provided the singing voice of the fairy Lyria in the DisneyToon Studios animated feature Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, and appeared in The Little Richard Story and The Ultimate Auction.
Garnyé has performed in concert with Stephen Schwartz, Neil Sedaka, Josh Groban, Dwight Yoakam, and Dave Brubeck. As a host, she has co-hosted on Sirius Satellite Radio with Scott Nevins, working in both New York and Los Angeles, and has hosted numerous charity events and concerts in both cities. In April 2024, she portrayed Leah in the world premiere of Prelude to a Kiss at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California. Garnyé holds a double Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and English from Santa Clara University and has studied voice with vocal teacher Edward Sayegh for fifteen years.
