About
Julian Cihi is a Japanese-American actor born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1986 or 1987, to Guy Cihi and Aki Mizusawa. He has one sister. After attending an international school, Cihi relocated to New York at age 17. He went on to study at Brown University, where he majored in international relations and theater arts, participated in a cappella, and performed in Production Workshop productions. He later earned an M.F.A. in acting from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
Cihi's stage career includes two Broadway productions spanning 2015 to 2022: Doctor Zhivago and Take Me Out. Earlier in his theater work, he appeared in Classic Stage Company's 2013 production of Romeo and Juliet opposite Elizabeth Olsen. He had originally auditioned for the role of Tybalt but was cast as Romeo after Finn Wittrock withdrew from the part.
On television, Cihi is recognized for his role as Tim Kono in the first season of the comedy mystery series Only Murders in the Building, a role he reprised in the second episode of the series' fifth season, titled "After You." His other screen credits include The Tick and High School Lover. In 2024, he portrayed Benjiro, an artist who created work on pieces of old technology, in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
In voice work, Cihi voiced both of the Katayanagi Twins, Kyle and Ken, in the 2023 animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
