Julia Lester is an American actress and singer born on January 28, 2000, in Woodland Hills, California. She is the youngest daughter of actors Kelly and Loren Lester, the granddaughter of actors Helen and Peter Mark Richman, and the niece of conductor and composer Lucas Richman. Lester attended Calabasas High School before pursuing a career in performance.
Lester gained wide recognition through her role as Ashlyn Caswell in the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. In 2022, she made her Broadway debut in the revival of Into the Woods, where she portrayed Little Red Ridinghood. Her performance earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical in 2023, as well as a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical the same year.
Lester has been in a relationship with screenwriter Ilana Wolpert since 2022. She is queer, as is the character she portrayed on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, whose storyline included coming out in the third season of the show.
