Joy Garrett

Joy Garrett, born Joyce Irene Garrett on March 2, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas, was an American actress and vocalist whose career spanned stage, television, and film.

Garrett's Broadway career ran from 1970 to 1977, during which she appeared in four productions. She starred in Jesus Christ Superstar and also took part in Inner City, The Candyapple, and Grease. Alongside her Broadway work, Garrett performed in three productions at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club during the 1970s: Paul Foster's Silver Queen, directed by Robert Patrick, in 1973; The King's Crown and I in 1974; and Paul Foster's Silver Queen Saloon, directed by Pat Carmichael, in 1978.

Her television work was extensive. She is perhaps best known for portraying Jo Johnson on the daytime drama Days of Our Lives, a role she held from 1987 until her death in 1993. Her other television appearances included The Dukes of Hazzard as Billie Tucker, The Incredible Hulk as Tina, Charlie's Angels, Quincy M.E., Benson, Too Close for Comfort, Night Court, Magnum P.I., Remington Steele, The Young and the Restless, Alice, Archie Bunker's Place, Dynasty, Murder She Wrote, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Her film credits included Husbands Wives and Lovers, Hotline, Born to Be Sold, Love Among Thieves, and Sidekicks.

Garrett died of liver failure on February 11, 1993, at the age of 47.
