About
Joy Bang is an American actress and Broadway performer, born in Kansas City, Missouri, who was adopted at one month old and raised in New York City. She attended Hunter Elementary School while growing up in the city, later enrolled at Boston University for one year before leaving, and subsequently worked as a go-go dancer. In the late 1960s, she married Paul Bang.
Bang launched her professional career in Boston, where she collaborated with underground filmmaker Andrew Meyer. Between 1970 and 1973, she appeared in a total of eight films, with her most prominent screen credit being Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam in 1972. Her television work during this period included a 1971 appearance in an episode of the Christian series Insight titled "The Party," as well as a role in the sixteenth episode of the third season of the American series Room 222, an episode entitled "Where Is It Written?"
On stage, Bang's Broadway credits include The Freaking Out of Stephanie Blake.
