About

Joshua Robert Colley, born January 20, 2002, in Trinity, Florida, is an American actor and singer who made his Broadway debut as a child performer and has continued building a career across stage, television, and film. He has a twin brother named Cameron, and his parents are Brad and Robbie Lynn Colley.

Colley's Broadway career spans 2011 to 2019 and includes credits in Les Misérables, Elf, Newsies The Musical, and Hadestown. He originated the role of Les in Newsies The Musical, performing in the production from March 11, 2013, through February 2, 2014. Following that run, he was cast as Gavroche in the Broadway revival of Les Misérables, sharing the role in alternation with Gaten Matarazzo. Colley joined the production when previews began on March 1, 2014, and remained with the show through March 1, 2015.

Beyond Broadway, Colley took on the lead role of Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the York Theater Company, running from May 24 to June 26, 2016. A cast recording of that production was released by Broadway Records on November 18, 2016. During a single week away from that run, in early June 2016, he performed the role of Flounder in a Hollywood Bowl staging of The Little Mermaid alongside Sara Bareilles, Tituss Burgess, John Stamos, and Rebel Wilson. He also provided the voice of Pig Robinson on the Nick Jr. animated series Peter Rabbit from 2014 to 2015.

Colley's screen work has grown substantially in recent years. In 2021 he appeared in the Hulu film Sex Appeal and the comedy Senior Year. He portrayed Liam, a sharp-tongued classmate of the title character, in the third and final season of the Hulu coming-of-age series Love, Victor. In 2024 he appeared as Monty, a crow transformed into a teenage boy, in the first season of the Netflix series Dead Boy Detectives, and played a teenage version of Captain Hook in the Disney+ film Descendants: The Rise of Red. Colley is set to return to Broadway in March 2026, starring as Orpheus in Hadestown.

In a 2022 ABC News primetime documentary special focused on the LGBTQ+ experience, Colley spoke publicly about his sexuality for the first time, stating that he does not wish to apply a label to himself and describing his sense of identity as ever-changing and ever-evolving, while also noting that he is definitely not straight.
