Born September 15, 1911, in New York City, Joseph Pevney first appeared in vaudeville as a boy soprano in 1924. He served in the Signal Corps during World War II. Between 1950 and 1984, he directed more than 80 film and television productions. He was married three times: to Philippa Pevney, then to Mitzi Green, with whom he had four children, and finally to Margo Pevney. His film credits include "Tammy and the Bachelor," "Elmer Gantry," "The Lady from Texas," "Away All Boats," "The Night of the Grizzly," "Body and Soul," "Man of a Thousand Faces," "Torpedo Run," and "Istanbul." On television, he directed episodes of "Star Trek," "Little House on the Prairie," "Bonanza," "Bewitched," "Mission: Impossible," "The Incredible Hulk," "The Big Valley," and "The Virginian."
