About

Jon Bass, born Jonathan Bass on September 22, 1986, is an American actor whose work spans Broadway, film, and television. He grew up in Bellaire, Texas, where he attended Bellaire High School and graduated in 2005. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Boston University in 2011.

After completing his studies, Bass relocated to New York City to begin his professional career. His first significant pursuit in the theater was an audition for the role of Elder Cunningham in the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, though he was not cast at that time. He subsequently landed the role in the Denver and Los Angeles productions, and from 2011 to 2012 he replaced Josh Gad in the part on Broadway.

Bass transitioned into screen work with a small role in the HBO comedy series Girls in 2014, followed by minor guest appearances on The Newsroom and House of Lies. In 2015, he took on a lead role in Comedy Central's Big Time in Hollywood, FL, playing the character Del Plimpton. The following year he appeared in the historical film Loving, portraying real-life attorney Philip Hirschkop. In 2017, his film work included All Nighter, the action comedy Baywatch — in which he played Ronnie Greenbaum alongside Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson — and Molly's Game, directed by Aaron Sorkin.

Bass has continued to take on prominent television roles in the 2020s. He portrays a fictionalized version of Uber cofounder Garrett Camp in the drama series Super Pumped, which premiered in 2022 opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt and is based on Mike Isaac's 2019 book of the same name. That same year he began playing Todd Phelps in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Bass is Jewish and was raised in Texas.
