John T. Murray was an Australian stage and film actor born in Melbourne on 28 August 1886. He performed on Broadway between 1915 and 1927 and also built a career in film. Murray died on 12 February 1957 in Woodland Hills, California, following a stroke.
Murray was married to actress Vivien Oakland, with whom he had shared the vaudeville stage prior to his Broadway career. His stage work spanned comedy, drama, and musical productions. Among his Broadway credits were the comedy The Star Gazer, the play The Matrimonial Bed, the musical The Yankee Prince, and the musical The Talk of New York. He also appeared in The Passing Show of 1915, The Show of Wonders in 1917, The Whirl of New York in 1921, and The Yankee Princess in 1922.
