Born November 15, 1931, in New York, John Grinham Kerr was the son of Geoffrey Kerr and June Walker. After studying at Harvard University, he worked at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge and in summer stock. He married Priscilla Smith and later married Barbara Chu, with three children and two stepchildren.

His film credits include "Tea and Sympathy," "South Pacific," "Gaby," "The Pit and the Pendulum," "King of Kings," "The Silent Partner," "The Quatermass Xperiment," "The Cobweb," and "The Amateur." On television, he appeared in "The Alcoa Hour," "Playhouse 90," "Peyton Place," "Columbo," "Gunsmoke," "The Virginian," and "Wagon Train."

In 1969, John Grinham Kerr graduated from UCLA Law School and went on to practice law in Los Angeles.
