John Christopher Jones (March 27, 1948 – September 15, 2025) was an American actor whose work spanned stage, film, and television across five decades. Born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, he earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from Amherst College in 1971 before pursuing formal training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.

Jones launched his stage career in 1975 with the play Little Black Sheep, beginning a Broadway presence that would extend through 2006. His theatrical credits included The Miser, Heartbreak House, Absurd Person Singular, The Goodbye Girl, and The Day Room, the latter earning him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Ensemble Acting. He also appeared in Beauty and the Beast and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer during his years on stage.

His television career began in 1977 when he made his debut on the CBS sitcom On Our Own, playing Eddie Barnes alongside Lynnie Greene, Bess Armstrong, and Dixie Carter. The series ran through 1978, after which Jones took on the role of projectionist Marlon Bond in another CBS sitcom, The Popcorn Kid, which featured Bruce Norris, Raye Birk, Jeffrey Joseph, Penelope Ann Miller, and Faith Ford. He went on to guest-star in a number of television programs, including The Sopranos, Ed, As the World Turns, Dellaventura, and Spenser: For Hire. His final screen credit came with the Paramount+ series Evil, after which he retired from acting in 2024.

Jones also maintained a presence in film, appearing in Moonstruck, Awakenings, Desperate Hours, and In & Out. In his personal life, he married teacher and writer Mary Beth Coudal in 1995, a partnership that lasted until his death. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2003, Jones died from complications of the illness in New York City on September 15, 2025, at the age of 77.
