About
Jimmie F. Skaggs (1944 or 1945 – July 6, 2004) was an American actor whose career spanned stage, film, and television. Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he relocated to Valley City, Ohio, during his childhood and later settled in Elyria, Ohio, as a teenager. His introduction to performance came through an all-school production of The Great Sabastions, and he went on to graduate from Elyria High School in 1963.
Skaggs brought his talents to Broadway in 1976, appearing in Grease. His stage work was complemented by an extensive career in Hollywood, where he took on a wide range of film roles. Among his screen credits were Neil Gallagher in Puppet Master, Devlin in Ghost Town, Smilin' Phil Fox in Underworld, Tom Scully in Cutthroat Island, a drug dealer in Lethal Weapon, and a bartender in Catch Me If You Can. In 1994, he also portrayed the main villain in the interactive film video game Blown Away.
Television audiences encountered Skaggs across a broad spectrum of series throughout his career. His guest appearances included The A-Team, Hunter, Remington Steele, Hill Street Blues, Falcon Crest, Miami Vice, Thirtysomething, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which he appeared in Season 2, Episode 9.
Skaggs died on July 6, 2004, of lung cancer at his home in Highland Park. He was 59 years old. He was survived by his wife, actress and director Virginia Morris.
